    Hey,

I just uploaded a fresh “system” folder to my server in order to upgrade to the latest build (2.0.1). I would like to delete the old system folder now, but I get multiple error messages when trying to do so. Is there any way to delete the folder from the server?

    Thanks for any help…

You’re getting error messages when trying to delete the system folder how? Via FTP?

    What errors are you getting?

    Yes, exactly.

I get errors like this and some others that look very similar:

    version: Operation not permitted

    Error -144: remote delete failed

Hmm, sounds like something you might want to consult your hosting provider about. A few questions:

    1. Who do you host with?
    2. Can you delete other files on the server?
    3. Do you know how to tell who the owner of the files are?
    4. What FTP program do you use?

There might be an issued with the cached files. Some server set ups make deleting files owned by EE more problematic. It’s better to go into EE’s Utilities area and Delete Cached Files first, then delete the rest of EE (it’s also a good idea when upgrading EE).

    Hello Erik and grrramps,

Thanks for your help. It was indeed an issue with my host. I contacted them and they deleted the files for me. They still owe me an explanation though 😉

    Thanks…
