deploy HTML files to a live webserver

My company is looking for an alternative to Serena Collage, which has been end-of-lifed 3 years ago.

In the Collage workflow, you work in a Project database, which then deploys html to a webserver. Can ExpressionEngine be configured to run this way, as well?

I don’t know if this workflow represents the best SEO practice, but it has consistently worked well, deploying all of the files necessary in order to build a webserver comprised of just HTML (well, some javascript, as well).

Thanks

Hello netniks,

ExpressionEngine requires a MySQL database. So your live site would need to be hosted on a server with Database.

Does that help?

Is there anything else I can help with?

Cheers,

Thank you, Shane. That clarifies it. My company is looking to Drupal, at the moment, even though it works on the same MySQL and PHP, etc. database driven approach. Therefore, our IT department either knows about how to basically export HTML files from a database, or is ok with dispensing with deployed HTML files. I don’t know which is the case.

I worked with ExpressionEngine just after it came out so many years ago, but haven’t touched it in the interim. It still seems like a mature and flexible solution.

If I may ask a more off-topic question as it relates to my original post, do LAMP websites perform as well as a straight-up HTML sites for search engine results, or does Google crawl them all the same?

Thanks and regards

Hey netniks,

I am glad I could help.

LAMP is my preferred, but they are crawled just the same. A site is a site as far as the crawlers are concerned.

Again, my personal preference is LAMP.

Cheers!
