I’ve had a number of issues from our users who try to upload a profile photo (within the correct pixels/rgb requirements) and then the system will not update to the new photo. Sometimes it just shows the old photo resized to the dimensions of the new photo. It also doesn’t show even if I overwrite the file in the folder via FTP. I’ve tried clearing the caches in the CP, I clear them in my browser & people not logged in still see the old image as well. If I remove the file & then upload a different file type (delete .jpg and upload .png) it overwrites fine, but this is kind of a pain to ask of my members.

Any ideas why this might be happening? It was in my old 2.4 version and after upgrading to 2.5 it still fails.

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

Can you answer a few questions?

1. Can you list out your Add-Ons for me?
2. Are you using any kind of caching, like template caching?
3. What are the perms of the new files and the overwritten ones? You can use FileZilla or any other FTP program to check the ownership/perms.
4. What OS is your server built on?

This is tricky one that sounds like caching but does not behave quite like it.

Please let me know what you find.
