Name of weblog or default_site?

And I guess another newbie question I can’t find an answer for in the wiki or docs.

Where do I find the shortname of the weblog or the default site for 1.6.4?

It’s nowhere in the CP, or admin settings, or anywhere else I can find.

It’s regarding this this wiki entry: http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Export_Entries

Thanks.

Hi sogdogtech,

Welcome to the Forums!

The name of all your Weblogs can be found by going to

Admin  ›  Weblog Administration  ›  Weblog Management

In your Control Panel.

Each Weblog Entries tag pair can call any weblog it likes based on the weblog= parameter.

Cheers,

Thanks but all I have under Admin is System Administration, and this:

System Administration

Most of the administrative aspects of ExpressionEngine are managed from one of the following five areas:

Content Administration
Members and Groups
Specialty Templates
System Preferences
Utilities

Hi, songdogtech. It’s been a long time since I messed with 1.6.4, the most recent 1.x version is 1.7.2. Try Content Administration instead, see if you can find it there.

OK, this is that:

Content Administration

This area enables you to manage your contents, preferences, and content-related sub-systems.

Content Management
Category Management
Custom Content Fields
Custom Entry Statuses
File Upload Preferences
Default Ping Servers
Default HTML Buttons
Global Content Preferences

In Content Management are lines like this:

2 New West Network Articles     articles     Edit Preferences Edit Groups Delete

Is “articles” a weblog that I use for default_site in export re: http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Export_Entries  ??

articles sure looks like the default site name. Just be sure to back up your database before you start fiddling.

So support doesn’t have a 1.6.4 site around for reference purposes?

I no longer do official support, but even when I did I normally didn’t go back more than two or three minor versions.

Ordinarily I recommend upgrading to the most recent version before troubleshooting something this old version wise.

Makes sense, I don’t know how old 1.6.4 is relative to 2.

I’m new to EE, just trying to export the content. I can’t get the exporter to work re: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/217826/

I posted a sample MT export dump there.

Should I upgrade to 1.7.2? And can I download the upgrade without being the original licensee?

Thanks

Sorry for the late reply - I only read mail a few times a week - semi retired, don’t ya know. smile

You’ll need to have the original license holder send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with the details of the license and ask to have it transferred to you. Or they can download it if they’re still current with the license.

It looks like Dan is working with you on the other thread. What was your reason for exporting the entries?

Thanks, looks like upgrading will be difficult, as the EE install has been modified. I’m moving the content to WordPress.

I was able to get the content to show by modifying the export script. But I may have to export directly from the database, because 26,000 articles overwhelms EE and the server.

Hi songdogtech,

It’s nice to see Sue step in a give you some pointers.

I spoke to this on the other thread as well, but yeah, that’s a pretty big load.

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

Cheers,
