Very keen on pressing the “Buy Now” button now, but 3 questions before I do.

1. Can the Simple Commerce Module allow customers signed in via Member Module to access their past orders?

2.  Can the Simple Commerce Module store multiple “vendors” and for each vendor a different online ordering menu?
3. If I am a developer working on solely my commercial site (not building sites for others for a fee) can I use the freelance license? Purchasing the Member Module as an add on?

Hi readmetwice,

It looks like I may have already answered your questions via email. Would you like to continue the conversation there?

Thanks for the reply. Commercial license, got it.

You suggest either of two modules, BrilliantRetail or CartThrob, can we unpack that a bit to understand the benefit and limits of each? Also can we throw a third into the mix that seems to also fit the bill the Channel Module. Unless this is a base and the former items add-ons. Here is the criteria for which I looking for it yes or no it support this and any limits:

-Searchable functionality based on city, category type, name of vendor, or item (sweaters). look and feel looking for something that is a simple free-entry search field not drop downs
-Store structure with many to many relationship= multiple vendors each with a 1-page list of unique items (sweaters unique to this vendor)
-Items must have ability to store description and pictures that can be identified by a unique identifier that will be used to map to matching items in integrated POS systems
-Ability for members to access past purchases on their own unique “my past orders” and re-order
-Ability to adjust time and address format to address international challenges (countries that don’t use postal codes etc.)

Thanks.

Hi readmetwice,

BrilliantRetail and CartThrob each have their own strengths and weaknesses. I’ve used CartThrob and it is incredible flexible in the way it manages products, orders, and purchases via ExpressionEngine channels. That allows you to decide what data to track, where and how to store it. Being channel entries also allows you to use many field type add-on, such as Playa, to make many-to-many relationships as the like.

With all that being said, you would get a deeper understanding of each system asking your questions to the developers - CartThrob - BrilliantRetail

Thanks!
