Hi Guys,

Just got EE.

We’re on Bluehost…

Firstly, I’m reading the installation user guide.

It recommends installing EE on the webroot.
(note, I’m not tech-savvy)

Is the webroot the same as the “public_html” folder?
Or must I install it one directory up?

I’m using “transmit” to FTP.

Thank you,

Phillip

p.s. Is Bluehost decent enough for EE? Or should I rather shift to another host? Thank you

Welcome to the ExpressionEngine forums, PhilipHardy.

I’m not familiar with BlueHost, so no pre-conceived notions. smile Yes, the public_html folder in most cases would be your webroot.

Let us know if you run into any other issues, We’ll be here.

I’ve used Bluehost for several years for my personal sites and freelance jobs, I pay about $100 per year, and pull 150-200gb per month on that one account, without noticeable latency.

It’s surprisingly good service for the money. SQL calls are considerably faster than most grid-related hosting, so it works very well for ExpressionEngine, acting very close to the speed of a dedicated virtual at low load.

Their support can sometimes be slow at responding, but they are very rarely needed.

Make sure you have your account set for PHP5 in the php config section of the bluehost control panel.

Hey Guys!

Thank you for the replies.

I’m sure I’ll have a few more questions…
But I’ll keep them sensible smile

Hope you’re having a good weekend.

Phil
