Login form return parameter bug in IE7/8

The login form works perfectly everywhere except - you guessed it - Internet Explorer. It doesn’t matter if I ask it to return to a template group/template or an absolute URL, it will dead end. The browser shows a “the address is not valid” message, the address bar shows my root URL with an extra forward slash after the http protocol (http:///example.com).

I have tried disabling all addons, no luck.

Hopefully I’m overlooking a simple path setting somewhere. Any help greatly appreciated.

trif3cta,

What version and build of EE are you using?
Are you using any add-ons?

Have you got a link so we can see this happening for ourselves?

Sorry about that: v2.1.0, Build: 20100712

I’m using Matrix and Users, although I still get the problem with both disabled.

trif3cta,

Have you got a link to where this is happening?
As an aside have you upgraded Users to the most current compatible EE2.1 version

Users is current. Here’s the link.

You can trigger the error just by hitting submit without a proper login. I can provide one privately if needed.

Thanks for looking into this.

The login form is as follows:

{exp:member:login_form return="/ati"}
<div class="reg-user">
<
h2>Login</h2>
<
ul id="login-user">
<
li>
<
div class="form-label">Username:</div>
<
div class="form-fields"><input type="text" name="username" value="" size="25" /></div></li>

<
li>
<
div class="form-label">Password:</div>
<
div class="form-fields"><input type="password" name="password" value="" size="25" /></div></li>
</
ul>
<
p><input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /></p>

<
p><a href="{path='directory/forgot_password'}">Forgot your password?</a></p>
</
div>
{/exp:member:login_form}

trif3cta,

I’m seeing this as well. Can you please file a detailed bug report and include your server setup (OS and PHP version). Please post the link to the report here. Thanks!
